Mountain Reedbuck

Mountain reedbuck at the head of the Sosian Gorge, which seems to be the centre for a NNP population of an estimated 20-30 of these localised antelope.

How does this population keep healthy when it is so inbred?

These animals (I counted seven) were a herd of females, with new young….

A fable, perhaps, for the lion population (c.40) which is also localised in Nairobi National Park.

  1. That’s sad. What is KWS going to do with the lions of the NNP? Shouldn’t they have plans to bring in new blood in order to secure the future of the lions?

  2. I agree w/you Pirjo. the imprisoned lions need new blood now! better solution and the most difficult one is to connect this Park to a great system so that not only new lions, migrating animals can come and go safely without human interference or poisoning.
