can’t tell because of the position of the lioness. if she attacked her target on the prey’s side instead of from its back ( often very dangerous for zebras have nasty kicks ), she might have a good chance to bring down her fighting or fleeing prey. she seems young and strong, so i guess her got it even though she was all by herself.
1st pic is lovely, that’s single-mindedness!
Nice pics, thanks for sharing…
Dirty picture thieves!! Dave- hang your head in shame! I took these pictures in late 2009 with my wife Kelly siting next to me. I have a few more from earlier and later in the hunt sequence. Kelly had to look away in case the lioness got lucky but all the zebra escaped on account of the cat going after a zebra that was further away than the ‘easiest’ one for her to sneak up on.
But I am indeed proud of the pics. Thanks for getting them on the blog Dave!
Hi Dave! Hope you are well? I found 2 young males Lion cubs at the dirt mounds at Athi Basin on Monday. They were in very poor condition – I suspect they have “mange” or some bad skin ailment. I have some images if you would like to have a look. Please email me on sales@transworldsafaris.com
I am worried about these cats! They were totally on there own so I wonder with the New Boys in charge if they have been chased from their natal pride? Can you get in touch with the vet dept at KWS to have a look at these guys? Let me know! Many thanks Sushil
Hi Rob: Apologies for picture theft! My fault entirely……using up archive pics as my camera stolen!!
